Business and Investment

Business and Investment – Tier 1 Investor

Business immigration is one of the routes for Non-EU nationals to seek leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom. A business includes a sole trader, a partnership, a limited liability partnership (LLP) and a company.

Tier 1 – Investor

This category is for an individual who is able to make a substantial financial investment in the UK either in the amount of £2 million or £5million or £10 million by way of UK Government bonds, share Capital or loan capital in active and trading UK registered companies (subject to restrictions).

An applicant must score 75 points for having;

(a) access, at least, to £2million that is in a regulated financial institution and disposable in UK; and

(b) opened an account with a UK regulated bank for the purposes of investing.

Source of funds must be legitimate and this has to be evidenced.

This route enables an applicant to apply for extensions and or indefinite leave to remain (ILR).

Tier 1 – Family Members

Family members of Tier 1 Migrant i.e. spouse, civil partner, unmarried or same sex partner and children under 18 may apply for entry clearance to enter the UK.

Tier 1 – Graduate Entrepreneur Migrant

This category permits a graduate endorsed either by the UK Trade and Investment or the Home Office approved UK Higher Education Institution who has been identified as having developed world class innovative ideas or entrepreneurial skills to remain in the UK having completed his/her graduation to establish one or more businesses here.

An applicant must score 75 points for specific attributes regarding his endorsement including having been endorsed by a UK Education Institution with Tier 4 Sponsor status; he/she has been awarded a degree qualification and that the institution has assessed him/her as a genuine, credible and innovative business idea person.
