Business and Investment – Tier 1 Investor
Business immigration is one of the routes for Non-EU nationals to seek leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom. A business includes a sole trader, a partnership, a limited liability partnership (LLP) and a company.
Tier 1 – Investor
This category is for an individual who is able to make a substantial financial investment in the UK either in the amount of £2 million or £5million or £10 million by way of UK Government bonds, share Capital or loan capital in active and trading UK registered companies (subject to restrictions).
An applicant must score 75 points for having;
(a) access, at least, to £2million that is in a regulated financial institution and disposable in UK; and
(b) opened an account with a UK regulated bank for the purposes of investing.
Source of funds must be legitimate and this has to be evidenced.
This route enables an applicant to apply for extensions and or indefinite leave to remain (ILR).
Tier 1 – Family Members
Family members of Tier 1 Migrant i.e. spouse, civil partner, unmarried or same sex partner and children under 18 may apply for entry clearance to enter the UK.
Tier 1 – Graduate Entrepreneur Migrant
This category permits a graduate endorsed either by the UK Trade and Investment or the Home Office approved UK Higher Education Institution who has been identified as having developed world class innovative ideas or entrepreneurial skills to remain in the UK having completed his/her graduation to establish one or more businesses here.
An applicant must score 75 points for specific attributes regarding his endorsement including having been endorsed by a UK Education Institution with Tier 4 Sponsor status; he/she has been awarded a degree qualification and that the institution has assessed him/her as a genuine, credible and innovative business idea person.
This route enables an applicant to apply for extensions and eventually to apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) and his/her family members may join him/her.

Tier 2 – General Migrant and Intra-Company Transfer Worker
General Migrant
A Tier 2 (General) Migrant must have a job offer from a UK based employer which holds an appropriate license from the Home office. There are tests that have to be met, in particular, this migrant must be skilled i.e. the Job level must be at graduate level or above.
Intra – Company Transfer
This category is for existing employees of multi-national companies who are being transferred from outside the EEA by their overseas employer to its UK branch for training purpose or fill a specific vacancy that cannot be filled by a British or EEA worker.
Common Features for Tier 2 Migrant
- Must have a certificate of Sponsorship issued by a UK based sponsor which has been licensed by the Home Office;
- Required to score 70 points (under the points-based system) from three different areas, namely: Attribution (50 points), English language (10 points) and Maintenance (10 points);
- Must not be liable to refusal under the general grounds in part 9 of the Immigration Rules;
- Must pay Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for themselves and any dependents; and
- Normally granted for Five years and one month but could be shorter.

Tier 5 – Temporary Migrants
Tier 5 Temporary Migrants covers temporary sponsored workers (and their family members) who can remain in the UK for no longer than 12 months (creative and sporting workers and charity workers) or 24 months (religious worker, government authorised exchange worker, international agreement worker and workers under a youth mobility scheme) or up to 72 months (Government authorised exchange workers).
Tier 5 Migrant cannot switch into any other immigration category.
Tier 5 Migrant (in all categories) must score points relating to sponsorship (30 points) and maintenance (10 points).

Timescales
i. Application Submission
Applications from instructions received, on average, is likely to take up between 1 – 8 weeks depending on which service is used (Normal, Priority or Super Priority). MT UK will indicate at the earliest opportunity if the matter is likely to take longer than the above period.

Category of Costs: Agreed/Fixed Costs
Costs: Average from £1,500.00
(All quoted figures exclude VAT unless specifically stated; if chargeable, VAT shall be charged @ 20%).
On average, this type of work takes 9 to 12 hours to complete. The precise number of hours depend on the complexity of the case.
Costs quoted do not include:
- Other expenses commonly known as disbursements for expert evidence/medical reports etc. No additional expense shall be incurred unless approved. Costs on average from £2,000.00.
- Any Home Office/ ECO fees for making the application; this can be paid directly to the Home Office as part of the application process.
